Workforce
Investment Act

 The Workforce Investment Act was created to design and
implement a comprehensive workforce investment system that is customer focused.
The system assists Southeastern Oklahoma to access the tools they need to manage
their careers through information and high quality services. Particular emphasis
is being placed on the design and implementation of services that will be of
interest and assistance to area businesses and will provide another tool to help
those business find skilled workers.
The Southeast Area Workforce Investment Board is the governing body of Southeast
Workforce Investment Area which is comprised of the following seven counties in
extreme Southeast Oklahoma:
Choctaw, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, McCurtain, Pittsburg and Pushmataha
The Southeast Area Workforce Investment Board is recognized by the Oklahoma
Employment Commission, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Governor's Council
for Workforce and Economic Development and the Governor as the proper body to
carry out the purposes and functions of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
The Southeast Workforce Investment Board is a proud member of America's
Workforce Network.
The Seven County Kiamichi Area Local Elected Officials Association is the
grantee for Title Workforce Investment Act funds and work in partnership with
the Southeast Area WIB to set policy and oversee Workforce Programs in Southeast
Area.
