Nutrition Services

    The Kiamichi Area Nutrition Project (KANP) provides services for seniors in the planning and service area of the KEDDO Area Agency on Aging. There are 14 Nutrition Centers within the KEDDO District that provide meals for seniors who are 60 years of age and over. The congregate participants may enjoy the meal at one of the nutrition centers or participants may qualify for a home delivered meal if they are determined to be homebound. Also, if participants qualify for the Advantage program they may receive a 7 day frozen meal pack.

    Congregate meals are served 5 days a week in a dining room setting and homebound meals are delivered 5 days a week.  The meal service provides for formal Nutrition Education to the congregate and homebound participants at least once a month and is provided by a Registered Dietitian.  Menus are prepared and approved by the dietitian who considers the special needs of the elderly and ensures that each meal contains at least 600 and not more than 1,000 calories.  The recommended level is from 750 to 850 calories.
